As we wrap up another year of serving the capital, it’s time to take a look back at the people, progress, and performance that keep Cardiff moving. Here’s 2025–26 by the numbers at Cardiff Bus.

Our People

  • 600 staff members power everything we do—from the depot to the driver’s seat.
  • 23 engineers keep our fleet running efficiently and safely.
  • 6 apprentices are building their careers with us through structured development.
  • 202,650 hours of training provided to our staff

Community & Accessibility

  • 12 guide dog training sessions ensuring supported accessibility across the network.

  • 5 school visits that introduced pupils to public transport, safety, and sustainability.

  • £6,425 raised for our charity of the year, Guide Dogs Cymru 

  • 103 hearing loops fitted on board our buses

On the Road

  • 8,952,510 kilometres operated across Cardiff and beyond.

  • 175,253 Cardiff Bus Interchange (CBI) departures helped connect the city.

  • 191 buses make up our fleet—all equipped with CCTV and contactless payment systems.

Fleet Maintenance & Safety

  • 602 new tyres fitted to keep our buses safe and reliable.

  • 100% MOT pass rate—a testament to the high standards of our engineering team.

Going Green

  • 55 electric buses are now on the road, helping cut emissions and noise.

  • Fuel usage savings from 2025 - 2026: 120,593 litres

  • 150 solar panels that power our depot offices

Our electric buses continue to lead the way in creating a cleaner Cardiff.

Smart Travel Growth

  • Tap On, Tap Off usage:

    • 2023/24: 1,416,902 taps

    • 2024/25: 1,824,729 taps

    • 2025/26: 2,043,441 taps
      That’s a 12% increase in contactless travel!
